I posted a quick how-to on installing the LED tail light, which will soon be followed up on a fender chop ‘how-to.’ Here’s some final pics of my bike (post mods). I also added a HID kit for better night-time driving.

Nice job, love the finished look. I just purchased a GSX650F (delivery May 1) and would like to install an undertail kit. Which one did you use? Did you install it yourself?

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for the compliment and congrats on your new bike purchase :) I actually did a ‘chop-shop’ job as far as the fender removal. I’ll post some closeup shots in just a bit for reference. I used nothing but a very sharp razor knife. This left a nice, smooth edge that didn’t require sanding. I went with the LED tail light that had integrated LED turn signals to get rid of the bulky, stock indicators. Check some eBay listings, Craigslist, or Google. I got mine off eBay for about $50 w/o shipping. If you want a full DOT-approved rig, you can actually get the miniature turn signals and mount them directly to the license plate bracket (which I re-used after chopping the fender). It seemed ridiculous to pay for an undertail kit when it looks just as good doing it yourself. I’m re-investing the saved $$ into a Two Bros. exhaust and Vortex Clip-on handle bars :S Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

Wow. great job and thanks, that is excellent DIY advice. I think I will give it a try. Be sure to post your Vortex Clip-on mod.

    All the best,

Any chance your going to post the “fender chop how too” any time soon. Hopefully with a nice close up of the underside of your bike?
